Training has been sporatic around here lately, but at least I'm doing something. I've taken on another job--just 2 or 3 hours in the afternoon--for a little extra cash and some time out of the house. L. and I both work from home, and it's wonderful and all but there is such a thing as too much togetherness. It makes me happy to get out at this time of year, and I've been walking home from work (3 miles) every day on top of running, and that feels good. God, it was such a long, awful summer. Too much relationship drama, and a terrible blow-up with a person I was deeply fond of, which ended in me losing a friend. And even a few months on I'm still not sure everyone involved wasn't being played against one another. Oh well, it sounds so irritatingly dramatic when I talk about it, and really I'm an intensely boring person (and like it that way *g*).
I went out tonight and picked up a copy of Gary Taubes book, Good Calories, Bad Calories. I've been reading a lot about it lately and it interests me. I can only offer research based on my own experience, but getting rid of white starches and sweets has been the only way I could ever lose weight. So understanding where the low-fat idea comes into play fascinates me. Has anyone here read it?
